This year, just a few days after my 22nd birthday in the month of February I got the opportunity to travel all the way to Sikkim to intern at a pottery studio in Pakyong, a small but beautiful town in East Sikkim. I’d like to owe this to Studio Maato and Reena Ma’am for having me as their intern and letting me work, learn and experience so much at the studio. I think I am really lucky to have had the opportunity of spending the quarantine lockdown days in the most one off manner. While everyone slagged around, I made handcrafted beauties and I can’t be more happy and grateful to you for this. When the pandemic drove everyone crazy, Studio Maato kept me sane and motivated.

I am so obliged to you for letting me wiz and dab hands on the clay. The owl series is the notch of all my experiences here and I am thankful to you for letting me be a part of it. The cuteness and distinctiveness of the owl series is second to none and no matter how much more taxing it was for me, I loved it the most. The studio, everything and everyone around was so congenial and intimate, it felt like home. As my days at the studio come to an end (even though I got the opportunity to work a month more than I was supposed to) I’ve realized that I am really going to miss all of this. I have seen myself grow during the internship and I am indebted to you for the same. Besides, the momos and puchkas that we made in the after studio hours were delectable (by the time I reach home, I’ll probably be much better at wrapping the momos than anyone else in my family, again, thank you for teaching me more than just about ceramics)

Here’s to this wonderful opportunity that will forever be my top notch experience! Thank you so much –Ananya Srivastava
